Dynakor Pharmacal is marketing a weight-loss supplement called Akavar-20/50, which is advertised as a "European weight-loss breakthrough," a “cure for fat!” and the “Fastest, Easiest Weight Loss Ever.”
Akavar-20/50’s promotional materials state that “Akavar-20/50 literally causes excess fat to be pulled from bulging parts of your body!” and that “There is absolutely no need to count calories, no need to consciously lower your caloric intake, no need for expensive, pre-measured meals... and no need to give up your favorite foods!”
So what is Akavar? The marketing materials call it a "fast-acting calorie restrictor." An examination of the ingredients suggest it is one more caffeine-loaded appetite suppressant.
The first three ingredients that Dynakor lists for Akavar are Yerba Mate (a stimulant),
Trimethylxanthine (caffeine). and guarana seed (more than double the caffeine of coffee beans).
Dynakor claims that Akavar 20/50's effectiveness is documented by published
medical findings. But the website not only does not provide the published findings. It
does not provide the name of a publication where these findings were allegedly published.
Some of the people involved with Utah-based Dynakor, moreover, appear to have also been involved with similarly located corporations and individuals charged by the FTC in 2004 with making numerous false and unsubstantiated claims for
weight-loss and fat-loss gels and supplements.
