  Weight-Loss Drugs Under Development
 

With tens of millions of obese and overweight people desperately searching for the magic pill that will enable them to lose weight and keep it off, pharmaceutical and biotech companies are racing to develop new drugs.

Here are some of the drugs currently under development. With the exception of Acomplia / Zimulti and taranabant, most are years away from submission for regulatory approval.

Also keep in mind that the development of obesity has been marked more by disappointments than by successes, and many of these drugs may never make it to market.
